Gender-typed stereotypes are preconceived, usually generalized to reinforce gender norms, typically in a binary way (masculine vs. feminine). Gender-typed stereotypes can be used by societies to justify discrimination against individuals who do not conform to the gender roles. They can limit opportunities for individuals, and perpetuate inequality.
